10 Most Frequently Asked Questions
About Arctic Zero

What is Arctic Zero?

Arctic Zero is a high quality frozen dessert that is all natural, gluten free, suitable for lactose intolerants, and low glycemic. Like “super foods”, we like to call it the world’s first “super dessert” since it feeds the muscle and starves the fat due to the high quality whey protein concentrate and low calorie/low carb formula. Basically, it is a great tasting protein shake in an ice cream form for all ages.

Looking at the previous pints of Arctic Zero (ie. 128 and 136 calorie pints), one has to ask whether the calorie count is off? How does one serving of a pint of “Chocolate” provide 32 calories per serving when it has 11 grams of carbs and 4 grams of protein? Shouldn't it be 60 calories?

We get the standard 4 calories per gram nutrition question several times a day. Per the FDA requiring us to do so, we have to list total carbs on the label regardless of whether they have an impact. In addition to our proprietary ingredients, we also utilize the patented Whey Low sweetener that has been on the market for more than a decade. Whey Low has 75% fewer calories than traditional sugar, because only 25% is absorbed by the body and it has a 70-80% lower glycemic index to boot.

So the new formula of Arctic Zero is 150 calories per pint? Why the change?

Customers kept asking us to make some flavors a little sweeter and we wanted to do it without adding sugar to the product. In our search to make Arctic Zero sweeter, we decided to start with a more natural source of sugar. We combined monk fruit concentrate with organic cane sugar, which has slightly higher calories, and then added 8 grams of fiber to each pint of Arctic Zero. Having been used in Asia for over 1,000 years and coming from the sweetest melon in the world, monk fruit concentrate is 150 times sweeter than sugar and one gram replaces 40 teaspoons of sugar! See why we love it? In addition, the 8 grams of chicory root fiber found in Arctic Zero, studies have shown it also increases calcium absorption in the human body. So in a nutshell, we simplified and streamlined our all natural ingredient list while replacing table salt with sea salt in our continued quest to make Arctic Zero better.

The fiber in Arctic Zero also lends itself in the subtraction of calories (4 calories per gram of fiber to be exact). So 180 calories minus 8 grams of fiber X 4 calories each means you can subtract 32 calories. So the calorie count of Arctic Zero is 148 calories per pint but for rouding purposes...150 calories. Many large companies have more recently begun doing the calculations automatically on the nutrtional label for you. We currently list the full nutritional count as we wanted to allow you to do the math yourself and so you could know where we're coming from.

Do you plan on bringing Arctic Zero to my state anytime soon?

We live in a big country, and though we’re a west coast company we know that Arctic Zero needs to be in every state given the childhood obesity epidemic raging through the country. For this very reason we have been working with retailers nationally to get Arctic Zero into a store near you. It’s a slow process, but we WILL be in every state in the not too distant future. Currently we're in 37 states!

Why don’t you make a Chocolate Marshmallow Carmel Peanut Butter
(add your flavor here) Swirl flavor?

We plan to create more flavors, though most will be seasonal flavors with a few more main staples. We’re bending the laws of physics as it is with calorie counts and nutritional content, and adding more exotic flavors takes time to develop.

How long has Arctic Zero been available in stores?

Arctic Zero has been available in stores since January 2009, though we’ve been in the frozen dessert business for nearly a decade with our mainstream specialty soft serve brand, Carbawhey.

Is there anything I can do to get Arctic Zero into a store near me?

Surprisingly one of the quickest and simplest things a customer can do to get Arctic Zero into a local store is simply request it at your local grocery store. In fact we've streamlined this process by adding an Arctic Zero Product Request Form to the website. Feel free to print it out and take it into your local store.

Why can’t I simply order 1 pint of Arctic Zero online and have you ship it to me?

Overnight shipping, dry ice, and insulated containers are expensive. So regardless of ordering 1 pint or 6 pints the costs are nearly identical. For anyone not near a store and looking to order online, we partnered with Amazon.com to handle shipping and order fulfillment since they are built for that and they offer free shipping.
